“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

Colossians 2:6-7

We have planted many plants since moving to Loxley, Alabama. Many have taken root and bloomed. Many (the ones I was responsible for) not so much. I am just not so good with plants. But I do try. 🙂

Back during the summer, Race brought home a new plant every single day! Mostly flowers. We have always wanted to plant fruit trees, but everything we had found was been too small (basically a stick) and over priced. And if you know Race… it HAS TO BE A DEAL. 🙂 Therefore, no fruit trees, yet.

One of the unique things about Baldwin County is there are home businesses everywhere. A business sign at the end of a driveway or a dirt road is pretty normal. That is how I found my counter top guy, I followed his sign at the end of his driveway and found a great deal! So why should buying fruit trees be any different?

Race saw a driveway with a sign offering fruit trees for sale. He stopped and met Mr. Sonny. Mr. Sonny has been a fruit tree distributer for many years but due to health issues he no longer sells trees and he let his license expire and can no longer sell trees. He just never got around to removing his sign. Race knocks in his door, mets him, chats with him, gets to know him, and next thing you know, Mr. Sonny is giving Race, not one, but two fruit trees! A red grapefruit tree and a satsuma tree. Such a nice man.

Thanks, Mr. Sonny! With fruit trees taking root, I have to say, we are starting to feel our own roots growing in Baldwin County! 🙂

With everything going on…We’re not going crazy, we’re Going Gentry!
